Grading
A grading setup connects your rubric, assignment context, and AI instructions. Build it once, review it, then apply it to an assignment.
Open Grading setups from the main navigation (or from an assignment's self-paced learning settings).
Steps
- Describe the assignment — Title, grade level, assignment text, and constraints.
- Choose a rubric — Pin a finalized rubric revision from the Rubric builder.
- Generate AI instructions — HBG drafts analysis (scoring) and feedback (student letter) instructions.
- Review and edit — Adjust both instruction sets before saving.
- Save — Commits the instruction pair; the setup becomes active.
- Apply to assignment — Links the setup so submissions use these instructions.
Until step 6, the setup is not used at grade time.
For professors
Finalize your rubric in the rubric builder before step 2. Review both instruction sets carefully in step 4—you can still edit wording before students submit.
For platform teams
Coordinate prompt revisions and org access before professors commit setups. Use admin usage and audit views to spot configuration drift across institutions.
